Located at the mouth of the Hanalei River on the northern shore of Kauai, Hanalei Pier offers one of the most breathtaking views you will ever see. From the pier you have the opportunity to gaze out upon the expanse of the crystal blue ocean with luscious green cascading mountain backdrops. If you really want to spend time soaking up the views, the pier has some picnic tables under its roof that are open to the public.
Before it was a spectacular viewpoint, Hanalei Pier served as a bustling working pier where sugar and other goods were loaded and unloaded. The Pier faced a lot of wear and tear over the years from both workers and tourists, but fortunately in 2012 and 2013 the Hanalei Rotary Club launched a campaign to restore the pier. They raised over $170,000, and now the pier is more beautiful than ever. It is a favorite spot among both locals and tourists to hang out and catch the sunset, play water sports, or watch some talented surfers catching waves.
There is parking at the pier, however the place can get quite crowded on weekends and holidays, so it is best to either go on a weekday or plan ahead.
